I would think so, but make sure you get as much of the original out as you can. I would not want to mix it much.

I would run it for a while and then change the tank full again.

well, it went like this, I was driving home yesterday, and my power steering went out, so, I pulled in a gas station, and looked under the hood, and my p/s resevoir was foaming up, so, I assume that the people at the shop put p/s fluid into it instead of atf, (which in retrospect doesn't really make sense) so I posted here to make sure mobil one was ok, and then went to change it, and in fact, pulled out atf, burnt atf, but....
anyhoo, refilled it, started the car and turned the wheel, made the air in the line grindy noises, turned it off went back to look an it was foaming again, and when I went to take the cap back off, the pressure actually pushed the cap off... I think it may be safe to assume I need a new pump. the right hand side of my car is cursed, in the last 2 months, I have discovered existing problems, and launched new ones, including: cracked precat, busted motormount, bad MAF, had some sort of wierdo problem with the motor solenoid for the ABS, and an A/C problem, all on the right hand side... wtf? still need to replace the cat, and the motormount. I wonder if the motormount could be causing excess vibration that is the root of the other problems. Skip

Foaming is caused by the pump sucking in air. This can be caused by the infamous 'O'ring between the pump and tank.
Good luck! Charl |
