Getting the network mobile
I belong to a bunch of forums and they are all suffering from facebookitis, in an effort to keep things active would it be possible to make this site accessible on mobile forum browsers like tapatalk. I'm posting from my phone right now and it sucks. Browsers like tapatalk make forum use on mobile device much more enjoyable.

Re: Getting the network mobile
I don't really use my phone for browsing, but I think this would help keep the forum busier, as using smart phones for browsing is only getting more common.....

I don't think this site is too bad on mobile. The search function is a little broken, but otherwise fine.

Re: Getting the network mobile
A mobile app would be nice I find that I have to zoom in and out quite a bit to do things. It would be nice to have it formatted for a phone with larger buttons and larger text etc. My eyes are getting old.

Re: Getting the network mobile
I have some good news and bad news on that front.
First the bad news. There is a mobile app for vBulletin. However, it is apparently worse than vBulletin V5; Anyone who read my post a while back on on V5 should now be shuddering, possibly projectile vomiting from that statement. A few choice quotes from those who have tried to use the app: "Each update seems to be a moreAnd we would have the privilege of paying a ridiculous amount of money for the app. I don't think so. The good news is that the next upgrade for us should have a mobile template available. Chris has been working on the next hardware roll-out. When he makes that available, we can get the upgrade going. -- waldon |

Re: Getting the network mobile
Thanks for the reply Waldon. Did you look into talpatalk? I know nothing about the inner working of running a forum but a couple of other forums I frequent are on vbulletin 4.?.? You don't have to take the time to explain how it works in detail. I just thought there was a way to make us show up in the apps search results. I also tried forum runner, can you point me to the one you are trying?

Re: Getting the network mobile
Probably 2/3's of my visits to the forum are from my phone. I tried Tapatalk for Nabisco and the Baja forum. Maybe I wasn't doing it right, but I really didn't enjoy using it.
There is another Subaru forum that I don't get to very often. They send out emails with links to popular forum posts. When I click the link on my phone, it forces it to their "mobile" sight, but to the main page, not the post that I was trying to get to from the teaser in the email. There may be better options, but so far I'm happiest with just normal browsing from my phone.

Re: Getting the network mobile
How are you uploading pictures? Guess I could use Dropbox or something.

Re: Getting the network mobile
I'm not sure that I ever did before from my phone, but I just tried it and it worked just like normal. Manage attachments, choose file, pick a photo...

Re: Getting the network mobile
I'm not sure what's going on in the background of these bullish boards, and have no clue what the compatibility is, but I really like the way that the http://www.scoobytruck.com/ board converts to mobile use. There is not a huge change, just a minor difference in format.
