Renovation Phase Finished

Well, I finished this phase of the SVX renovation today. Car has been back from Dave Heinrichs for 2 weeks, but needed to do a few final things. Replaced the rear seat backs, removed the windshield wiper arms, de-rusted them, and painted them metallic charcoal. Blacked out the vertical tire pressure tell-tale white shoe polish stripes on the tires. Looks pretty good.

And, of course, there is YT's fine engine.

Dont know where I'm going with this next, maybe some new front seats. I have been scoping out a roll bar, but it looks like it would really intrude on the rear seats, and I would really have to tear up the interior to attach the support legs to the rear strut tower.

That looks too good to race Dan.
It will look more impressive on the track, passing the rest.

Re: Renovation Phase Finished

Dan,

So, Tom never switched your car over to a Hydra stand alone?

Looking good!

Cheers,
Bill

Re: Renovation Phase Finished

Yes. He did. He left the MAF on as one of the possible emissions compliance strategies. The idea was that for the emissions test I could reinstall the stock ECU, then after it was over put the Hydra back in. Only problem was that it wouldn't run at all with the stock ECU. never got around to removing the MAF.

Re: Renovation Phase Finished

Did they paint over the rubber strip under the side garnish pieces? It's hard to tell from the pictures. All in in all it looks great. I remember seeing it at Reading and noticing that the clear coat had failed and the paint was pretty bad.

Re: Renovation Phase Finished

I'm not sure what you mean by the side garnish pieces. It's clear the side plastic panels were removed before painting. If you mean the rubber strip that is under the trim piece that sits under the rear quarter window and above the rear wheel, immediately above the rear fender on each side, no, he didn't paint over that.

My final dose of bling: Charcoal metalflake windshield wiper arms.
