Re: Radiator "mod", need advice.

It seems to be working.

I think it was too little too late. There has been a steady leak that I have been unable to find. I cleaned everything up a few times, only to keep finding what appeared to be a stain running from under the upper hose, but not coming from the hose. It looks like the tank itself is leaking.

When I took the radiator out and sprayed it down before I had it repaired there was some pretty serious green gunk built up around that area, and I think cleaning it off unleashed the torrent.

Guess I'll try some stop leak and put a new rad on the list of things to get.

It's aluminium...why can't it be fixed?

Actually I'm not sure again if it's broken. I had to bend the cap wings in to give it a tighter fit. It's been hissing (bought a new one, they both hissed). Probably doesn't account for the pool at the bottom, but maybe now with everything obvious finally without a doubt sealed, the real leak, if there is one, will be more apparent.

What I was thinking earlier though is the tank is leaking underneath where the fins are. It would have to be mangled somehow in order for it to be fixed.
