TCU codes

Hello

Are the codes for the TCU listed in the How-To Documents?

I have been getting a 31 and 24 for sometime now.

I know that 24 is the duty solenoid C or what is also called the "transfer solenoid". You know the one that controls the RWD.

And I think 31 is the TPS same as for the ECU codes. Is that right?

If so this is the third time the TPS has messed up the 4EAT.

Hi John

Yes, the codes are in the How-To section.
Click into Electrical/Codes-Blinking Lights/Engine Codes.

The final Word document is not well named, as it covers both Engine and Transmission codes.

Your diagnosis is correct. You are lucky in that you can work on the C solenoid by just dropping the sump.

Your TPS might only be out of adjustment. Maybe it came loose? It is easy to measure and adjust, Trevor posted a great document which is shown also in the How-To section.

You should try doing the adjustment first and see if that causes your code to go away. If the code does not stay away, that would probably indicate that the TPS is damaged or uneven across the rheostat, and is not sending a continuous rising signal across the range.

Or in other words is buggered and you need a new one. And they are not too cheap for such a small piece of wear and tear kit.

Hi Joe,

I had the TPS set just right per Trevors instructions for a long time, over two years. I am just to cheap to buy a new one But it looks like the time has arrived. My TPS just wears out. It gets what I will call "a hole" in the contacts since I am on the highway so much and the throttle setting is pretty much constant. It just seems to wear that spot out. Thanks

Ah, a cheapskate!

Understandable John, the SVX can fairly suck up money at a good rate when things go wrong.

Wearing out the spot where the throttle spends most of the time. You are the first I have come across with that theory, and y'know, it sounds very plausible indeed.
