Still, I guess if I had to pick something, I'd go for some new platinum plugs (I think you can get non-NGK platinum plugs for pretty cheap), belts and a PCV valve. You could spend about $40 on a K&N filter, but your plugs have probably never been changed. They're designed to go 100k miles. Admittedly, I replaced mine at 130k miles and they looked pretty damned good, but I shouldn't have waited that long. Yes, they are a total pain in the ass to replace. You can search the forums and likely find dozens of tips on the process.

$75 for Pep Boys
I went to Pep Boys last night to get oil for my wife's POS, oil burning, 40k 95 Jetta and for the XT6. Castrol is on sale. $.50 off a quart! Got 10 quarts of oil and 2 filters for $22. I'd start there, get a new air filter, and probably change your auto trans fluid too. I'd suggest Mobil Synthetic since it mixes fine with none synthetic and has good low temp flow and also a high flash and burn temp. Its about $5-6 a quart but you shouldn't need more than 6 maybe 7 to fill it. Finally, I'd move on to the coolant. Flush it and your system will last much longer!!! Also since you've been slack on mantianance you may want to get a few fuel system cleaners and put those in your tank for the next couple of fill ups. That should fill up your $75 gift!

If the car's running good I'd vote for a pair of wiper blades. Take the change and head for Hooters.
