Lwin,
What is the camera you are using? I still haven't made the digital plunge yet...

I am using Canon Powershot A50 -- Not the best but gives you a decent amount of control and 1.3 Mega pixels. For the same price I paid for it now, I can get probably 3 mega pixel cams.

Canon fodder

I've owned a trusty EOS Elan for years. It gave me great service for the 3 summers that I took whitewater rafting photos. I guess I'll just stick with Canon when it is time to go digital. The reviews always seem to be good. Don

My dad has a Nikon. I like that better than canon. Both digital and 35mm. I like his N90 body. It's nice and fits in my hand like a glove.

Moderation for the moderator?

Eddy, Aredubjay, you need an arbiter here.

And I would just LOVE to be that person.

Aredub: I agree with you. I call it 'passive AWS' too, wrong or not.

Eddy: I agree with you. It's not 'steering,' persay - but that's easier to say than 'suspension that adjusts wheel toe-in.'

That being said, I think Randy is starting to get pissed off. Eddy, you seem just fine with pushing Randy further and further. I totally respect your experience and expertise. I will therefore refrain from using the term 'passive AWS' in your forum. BUT, I would ask that, if you do not want to get into this argument in every SINGLE thread in the 'babble' forum, you refrain from referring to Randy's (and other members of this club - including myself) insistence on calling it 'passive AWS.'

It has been my observation that you are the instigator of these arguments. That's fine. I do the same thing to people I know. But it's getting tiresome and I think Randy is starting to take it personally.

In the interest of keeping the peace in this club, please refrain from prodding Randy on this any further.

I dig both of you guys. Don't make me come back there.

Lwin,
I've owned several Nikons back in the 70's. The EOS got the best ratings in the early 80's for its exposure system, so I went with it. I had to get consistantly acceptable exposures under various lighting situations and at a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the rafting action. The Canon never disappointed me, and took a lot of banging on rocks and getting soaked and still works like a champ! My good friend Barry down in Tennessee has a Nikon Coolpix 880 and it is an EXCELLENT digital camera. It took most of our Smoky Mountain Meet photos. I just wish I could afford one! Don

PS....I have seen several of those wings around. I saw one on a purple (yes!) SVX at the Norfolk Navy base a couple of years back. At least it is high enough to see underneath, but I'm sure it gets in the way of what I call "cornervision". I actually like the wings that look like the ones they mount on LeMans cars better than these. At least those look like a racing wing instead of some cosmetic add-on.

Hmmm. Lemme see . . . . . . nope, didn't work.

Mr cubed pockets, I doubt that I would get into this argument on every thread on the site. Not everyone here thinks they have AWS. As for making Aredub mad, trust me, after dealing with this issue for quite some time, I'm not the happiest camper either.

As I've said before, if some here *need* to have AWS to feel better about the car, then by all means *you* have AWS. Mine doesn't have it, none of the ones I have worked on have had it, and I don't feel a bit let down because of it. I think the problem arises not so much from the AWS issue, but the definition of passive.

As for pushing Aredub further and further, I think there has been some button pushing on both sides, and I'd also admit that we both seem to be pretty good button pushers.

I guess I shouldn't tell anyone that I've thought of trying to adapt the Erebuni 300ZX Ferrari Testarossa body ki for the SVX?

And that's the part that makes it "fun."

you guessed it eddy....

i am agreeing with randy and mr. pockets on this. but i also agree with you, sort of. of course none of the SVX's in the US have AWS. we all know that. but we all must agree that there is a toe-in, toe-out effect created because of the way the suspension was designed. this purposely created effect was to aid in cornering.

see and i never even said "passive AWS"........oops.....

on the wings issue....

those are really ridiculous. in memphis the honda/acura boys are notorious for outrageous wings. pretty high performance stuff considering most of their cars are putting out somewhere around 150hp. i like the le mans style wing too. but it has to be accompanied by the right body kit, front spoiler, wheels. you cannot just take a stock car with some american racing wheels and put a le mans style wing on it. that looks just plain stupid.
