3.3 swap into second gen Legacy

Hey guys

I'm looking for some information on doing a 3.3 swap into a 98 Legacy. There seems to be next to no information on the internet about this that I can find. I've found a little bit on nasioc....nothing on sl-i or lgt.

I plan on running a 5MT, but SVX was only auto....so a stock SVX ecu will be for an automatic no matter what.....will this be a problem? Will I have to run a stand alone?

What about internals? I'm more than familure with EJ internals and building EJs, but the EG is new to me. What sources are there for internal parts? My plans are to make a turbo build out of this for big numbers, so I will need internals that can hold up to it. My understanding is that I can use EJ22 pistons and rods. Is this correct? With the boost, I'll want to run ARP studs, so normal EJ ARP head studs will work just fine right?

What about the heads? Will newer EZ heads bolt on? I would like to have DOHC so it breathes better on the top end.

I have lots more questions, but I'll keep it at this to get started with.

As well, any links anyone can provide with info would be great!

Thanks!

Look up the user name "httrd", he is on here and SL-I. Most of his build info is on SL-I.

And there is a guy from another board I frequent that did a swap into an Imp, he has a lot of good swap videos on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/user/taiden

EZheads do not fit.
Its already a DOHC.
If you use EJ 22 pistons the compression will be too low.

Re: 3.3 swap into second gen Legacy

studs are always better but the regular bolts are probably fine if you are not running crazy boost. also the manual swap won't bother the ecu much because the svx has a separate transmission computer. with a boosted engine though you probably want to get a new ecu.
