stripped motor mount nut!!

im in a bind! i got a stripped motor mount nut, the middle one that goes through the rubber grommet. the head is stripped, i got a set of the snap on sockets that are for stripped nuts and bolts but there just rounding it off more. i have never had one of these motors out and was wondering if i could just tourch it off and put a new nut and bolt through?

thanks, bobby

Re: stripped motor mount nut!!

If you are replacing the motor mounts just use a drill bit the same size as the stud and drill straight into it, in the center, until there is no bolt left for the nut to hold onto.

Re: stripped motor mount nut!!

use a pencil die grinder to cut most of the way through one side and then hit it with a hammer and chisel at the week point. it will most likely break, or at least loosen up enough so you can rotate it off by hand. if the rounded nut sockets round it more it is probably pretty soft.
