Contact cleaner

Is CRC the best? Has anyone ever had O2 sensors give a slow response code due to dirty contacts? I put a new O2 sensor in last fall and it occasionally trips a code for the same slow repsonse error. I bought Bosch sensors so they should be high quality. The fact that it is intermittent says contacts to me.

My 96 has been doing this for a few years now. I've tried bosch and ngk sensors,cleaned all the contacts except at the ecu,cleaned the injectors and nothing has worked.I even cleaned the bungs so I know they make good contact on the cats.It returns every 2 drive cycles. Just like the FSM say's it will. I just clear it when it pops up.next step is exhaust. It runs fine but uses a little more fuel than normal.Btw, the code I get is po145. Good luck and let us know if you figure it out.

I replaced bank 1 sensor 1 and it has been fine. I replaced bank 1 sensor 3 and it still gives me this error intermittently. I can't remember which code it is, numerically, but it is the slow repsonse one. That usually means the sensor needs to be replaced but this is a new Bosch. I suppose it could be a faulty sensor but I have also heard it could be bad contacts.

It was the one with the connector on the end, not the bare wires.

I had bad luck with the universal type (bare wires). OEM type should have been fine

Keep in mind mine is a 92. I was getting a CEL after the new one was put in, I forget what code exactly.

I had the contacts cleaned and greased with contact grease. If that doesn't work I am going to contact Bosch for a replacement. But I am wondering if the problem isn't related to mismatched O2 sensors. Both bank one sensors are now Bosch but I am guessing that the bank two sensor is OEM.

That is not consistent with what I have read in other threads and my remaining OEM sensor does not look like the Bosch sensor. I think denyo said in another thread that others have claimed that the ECU seems to only like OEM sensors and that NGK and Bosch have caused him the same issues. The Bosch sensor I used for Bank 1 Sensor 1 seems to be working fine as a replacement. This appears to only be an issue with the extra sensor (sensor 3) that only the OBD2 cars have. If the code returns I will probably swap sensor 2 and sensor 3 to see what happens.
