Best subie automatic transmission for OEM replacement

Ive done a few thread searches and cant find any distinct info on what i am looking for, so i will go straight to the well. I am going to begin searching central florida for a used/rebuilt transmission for my 92LSL, I have read here and there that the trans from the outback and the legacy are compatible. I would like to generate a concise list of best and/or most adaptable subie transmissions for the replacement of the OEM tranny.

once we have compiled a solid list (gear ratios, models etc) I would think it would be good to place in a sticky or other location for fast grabs for people looking for this information. Please post as much info as you want/can.

Thanks in advance for any information you post.

exactly, those numbers are helpful for a part of a list, but not a whole picture, as in what subie vehicles they can come from to be used in the SVX. thanks to the post-er, regardless, as it will lend a hand.

best and/or most adaptable subie transmissions for the replacement of the OEM tranny. O K so say you don't want to change to a 4.44, which trannys from which cars will bolt right up, just fact finding, as I need an inexpensive fix for the "parts car" that will become a daily driver, thanks!!........................G

Re: Best subie automatic transmission for OEM replacement

No other Subaru transmission other than the stock SVX will bolt right up with no other changes. To swap in any other Auto transmission, either the SVX front diff needs to be swapped onto the replacement transmission or the matching rear needs to be swapped.
