Phenomenon?

I don't know about anyone else but my car is running noticibly better after the meet than before the meet. I can only think of a few reasons how this could be.

1. the total of 40 hours of driving there and back has cleaned the engine out a bit (throttle body/cats)

2. gas in the U.S. is better for the SVX than gas in Canada

3. my car is just thanking me for taking it to Lafayette for a family reunion

Anyone else have a better explanation as to why this has happened? I want to keep the car running this good for as long as possible.

BTW the best mileage on my trip was 28.7 MPG (US Gallons) which works out to 34.5MPG (CA gallons) or 8.2L/100km for us Canadians.

(most of the driving was between 60 and 80mph)

When I headed back home to Washington State after the meet, I ran a couple of bottles of injector cleaner through the car. It is added to your gas when you fill up. I had been getting 26 mpg, and as I got closer to home, the milage kept getting better. The next to the last tank full, I got 31.5 mpg, and I have not calculated the last one yet (I have to fill it up first). My speed was around 70 mph all of the way back (I was traveling with a friend with out a SVX so didn't drive as fast) I am very surprised with this mileage. My 93 gets around 26 mpg on the highway. I guess I will try the cleaner on it as well.

Which type of cleaner did you use?

I think I'm going to run a bottle of STP injector cleaner through the fuel system on my next fill. When I get some (lots) of time I will make an attempt to clean the throttle body as I'm very certain it has never been looked at.
