Ammadawn more likely.

I never warmed to that design study. The nose treatment looks a lot like some US nineties car I can't remember the name of. Totally derivative to the A pillar, then a glass rear section like a hearse.

The idea may have been good, the execution is dreadful.

If we are making guesses about SVX mark II then I feel it would definitely have had a turbo or supercharged engine, been available with a manual gearbox and dropped the window in window canopy. Or else they will not have been listening to customer suggestions at all.

Plus if they have an ounce of sense the next flagship car will need to be supplied with a 3.0 litre turbo diesel.

Yeah, sorta, Seth.

I was thinking more the nose of the 96-99 Ford Taurus maybe?

Re: 98 FACE LIFT ever existed?

Yeah, that illustrates what I was saying. Generic and derivative. We can identify 4 or 5 cars where the nose is similar. Instantly forgettable.

I do like the big hatchback SVX thing that was designed by IAM I think in California. Now that was a nice car, a touch of class about it.

Re: 98 FACE LIFT ever existed?

Thinking if the Amadeus was produced at the time and was based on the svx under the skin. Would you be able to fit the SVXs front etc to it to make it look like a SVX wagon?

Of course this is all hypothetical

Re: 98 FACE LIFT ever existed?

Definitely. Anything can be customized (in the worst case with fiberglass).

Elliott did a great job converting the nose of his 240SX into a GTR. Check his posts in the Mods section.

Re: 98 FACE LIFT ever existed?

I don't agree that the SVX would have had a major makeover after 5yrs. As an example, the 3000GT(GTO) Stealth twins went 10 years on the same sheetmetal. Subaru's own Legacy of the era did something similar. All the chassis hard points are the same from '94-'04. The skin was different.

IMHO the SVX would have gotten all new plastics(trunklid included), and possibly a hood and 1/4 panels. THe lights would have been redone. The window-in-window treatment would have definately stayed. To remove those would have required a full redesign.

The Amadeus was likely the prototype for the SVX MKII. It demonstrates the redesign philosophy I'm talking about. The doors are almost identical to ours. The glass is identical from the B pillar forward. This is a reskinned, mildly modified SVX chassis.

As for upping the performance ante in the SVX MKII, I believe it would have remained an NA motor. The philosophy of the SVX made it clear that balance was paramount. Yes I think 280HP was a GREAT target, as was a 5spd trans with a center diff similar to the auto. This meant a variable torque split.

Sorry for the novel, just my opinion. Your mileage may vary

So when is some one going to make a replica of the Amadeus?

That was a customer car, not mine, though I wouldn't mind having it. I could probably get it cheap now that the idiot crunched one of the fenders.

I think that was a GTS Skyline nose we put on that car, though I don't know much about Skylines, a GTR bumper would probably bolt right in place though, that bumper is totally unmodified and even bolts to the fenders like Nissan intended.

Danny,

I couldn't agree with you more. Since this wing had a price tag of over $1K USD when it was available I bet it had some development put into it. They did craft these out of carbon-fiber. Really a top notch accessory when you consider how true to racing the PROVA company is. Just review thier track record of running Nurburgring.

Anyone have one of these for sale??? Wish I would have got one when I could have......

Re: 98 FACE LIFT ever existed?

Unless Dayle has a sercet source for these I think he said he can no longer get them; just has the item still on the site for archive purposes.

Go to prova.jp , its no longer available.
