Car Show / SVX Mini-Meet and Autocross, Nov 1

Hey, how about a weekend where there is a car show, a SVX mini-Meet and an autocross ????? A full weekend, to say the least! See the flyer attached ....

On Nov 1 (a Sat) my church is having a Third Annual Car Show along with a Crafts Bazaar The car show is a draw for the Bazaar). Last year we had about 24 cars, which included: three SVXi, a Bricklin, a 1965 396 CID Corvette coupe (a Dundov award car and worth about $140K), a 1938 Lincoln Zepher V12 coupe, and numerous cars of the 60's. Most are expected back this year, assuming there is good weather. As with last year, every participant receives a jar of homemade apple butter and a free lunch. So come join us.

And if we can get enough SVX folks to participate, we'll see if we can put together a cookout at my place just around the corner from the church.

AND the NEXT day, Nov 2, the local Mercedes Club is having its last autocross of the season close by in Winchester (about 15 minutes from my house and the car show). Great opportunity to see some really nice cars run (along with yours, of course), like the AMG's, a 1958 (wooden frame) V-8 Morgan, Mustangs, and at least one SVX (me).

So who's up for a great weekend?? Give me a call or send an email (or PM) if you plan to attend (gotta plan for the cookout, you know ...
Hope to see you there!

Harry

Dag. It would be a bit of a trek (at least for a day trip) tho I would have loved to give it a shot. But I have company at my place that weekend. The people I'm staying with for the Pumpkin Carve are coming down, and fair is fair for house visits! Maybe next time.

I have to work on sat the first. Since the wife has totes full of crafts that we will have to store for the winter, I wish the 'sale' was on sunday!
I could haul all her stuff down and run the Outback.
Planting ideas?!?

Re: Car Show / SVX Mini-Meet and Autocross, Nov 1

CAR SHOW CANCELED, BUT ..........

Yes, the church's bazaar and car show have been canceled (apparently too few venders for the bazaar), BUT we can still have a SVX mini-meet at my house and, of course, the autocross the next day on Sunday is still a go. We will also be making apple butter on Sat (rained out today), so if you are interested in stirring apple butter, we will start at 4:00 AM on Sat.......

So who is up for a cookout Sat afternoon) and autocross (on Sunday)? Ron and Rebecca have indicated they would be down (for the car show and cookout), and I assume are still interested in coming - I hope so. So let me know so I can get the burgers and hot dogs and beer .....

Harry

Okay, we have Ron coming for sure, although he won't be joining me at 4:00 AM to help get the apple butter making started Rebecca indicated she was coming down for the car show (now canceled), but I have not heard from her about coming for the cookout on Sat and autocross on Sunday - send me a PM, Rebecca and I'll send directions, etc. Ruth and I still have a bedroom available for you.

Anyone else? OT and DI? John?

Rebecca,
I couldn't find a PM link in your profile to send a PM to you, but here is the Mercedes website where the directions for Sunday's autocross is located: http://gws-mbca.org/ax/axdirections.html.

Sorry you can't make it down on Saturday, but looking forward to seeing you on Sunday. Zap me an email at newsvx@yahoo.com and I'll send phone numbers, etc.

Harry

Re: Car Show / SVX Mini-Meet and Autocross, Nov 1

Okay, plans are evolving!!

Ron is the only one that can make it on Sat, it appears, so I'm thinking that if folks would like to come down to Winchester for the autocross, we can have a mini-meet / cookout following the autocross at my house. It "might" be a bit nippy outside, but that should not be a problem (no rain projected). The house has heat - and so does the garage .

So if you think you can make it, please let me know. I need to procure the hamburgers, beer, etc. For directions to the autocross, see the previous post with the link to the Mercedes Club's directions. And if you want to MapQuest my location, the address is 115 Maverick Ct, Stephens City, VA 22655.
