stock rims
I just had my car painted - stock ebony. No pics yet, sorry. Now my rims look pretty lame. Has anyone buffed the crap out of them to give them a shine and then clearcoated? Also, I was considering painting the center caps black to match the car with the Subaru text in red. Do we have anybody in here that could do this with software so that I can see if it's a bad idea or not?

Someone was showing off a polished SVX wheel a while ago. It looked pretty good. Not really my taste, but still nice.
I really hate the mis-matched center cap colour job. Some of the new Mazda's have it (silver wheels and black center caps), and I think it just looks like junk. Cheap and odd.

There was someone at the 10th Ann. meet who had polished, clear coated OEM rims. They looked really good. Perhaps there' a photo in the archived thread.

Crazypilot, I agree, also reminds of me of the dodge stealth/Mistubishi 3000 GT, wheel/center cap combo.

Here she is. I just got back from a ride around the block. It ended up being a 250 mile block but like Forrest Gump would say, I just felt like driving.
 I had 17" rims on her to start with. I like the ride of the stock better. I don't feel every bump in the road now. Smooth. If anyone finds a pic of the polished wheels, let me know. I've looked around and haven't found any yet. I'm not going to go with the diff color center cover either. Thanks for the comments. As for the car paint, it looks good although I wish that I'd have added a little bit of metalic in there just to set it off a little bit more. Last edited by Hop; 08-10-2008 at 08:19 AM.

Beautiful paint job! I painted my stock rims and they look friggin bad as heck IMO, but I painted mine black to match the car...I like to blend in
You can also paint them chrome though if thats the look you want. I honestly wouldn't go for the flat silver look they have now. Anyways as far as painting I just sanded the surface till it was even and smooth and rattle canned 1 coat primer 3 coats black then 2 coats of clear. They look amazing!
