I think it's going to omg loud with lots of bad resonance

I recently purchased a somewhat similar system from a former member here, but it has a 2-1 cat in place of the factory 2-1 cat, no precats, and a flowmaster 1in/2out muffler at the rear.

At idle it sounds great, but between 2500 and 3000 rpm it is absolutely terrible sounding. Really loud and droning.

As has been discussed in other exhaust threads, I am now of the opinion that you need to have at least a small resonator in the place of the two pre-cats, and possibly one more resonator before the main muffler.

I think I will add some straight thru resonators where the precats were (just behind the O2s) and see if that cleans it up. If not, I'll add another resonator before the rear muffler. Because I'm cheap, I'll try some glasspacks for the resonators and see how that goes..

Pipe diameter is too large to keep sufficient velocity of exhaust gasses, but may give you that nasty chunky noise you are looking for. Have fun.
p.s. You are going to need a turbo to get a turbo car sound.

I don't think you're supposed to put glasspacks before the Cats, because it will foul up the cat.

To be honest the size of our motors doesn't require very large exhaust pipes. Since you have 3 O2's that complicates things a little more. My vote for your car would be: starting at the manifolds
2" pipes, O2 for each side, Y the two 2" into a single 2.5" where your 3rd O2 would reside, going to a resonator or two??, then back where your choice of muffler w/ one 2" in and pair of 2" out ends w/ your choice of tips. I would assume this would be free flowing enough for HP yet small enough to keep the exhaust velocity up. (as the gas cools is basically shrinks and no longer needs as much space to flow efficiently) I can't draw you a picture so I hope you can visualize this. For the price and performance I would go w/ walker (dynomax) high flow cats and maybe a magnaflow muffler. That should give you a nice aggressive sound with probably a bit of annoying interior resonance, while keeping the ecu happy while it monitors the upstream O2's performance with the third O2 in the Y section.

Front pipes will be better sized at 1 7/8 or 1 5/8....

You're going to have a lot of trouble making the SVX sound like an STI. We have 6 cylinders, they have 4, plus a turbo.

Myeah, no b0x4R rumble for us. I see your thought process with the unequal lenghths for the front pipes...but I dont think it'll work quite as you think it will

Correct, you would have to actually criss-cross the collectors in addition to adding length to one side and shortening the other to get something close to it... after countless hours of trial and error it would still be very subtle. Most people would probably think it was just running poor.

If you want an sti sound, get an sti.. if you want a V8 sound, get a car with a V8. If you want a raspy 6 cylinder sound that wakes the dead, build that picture.

The turbo is one of the main reasons why sti's and wrx's sound "blurbly"
