Home at last

After finding the car on e-bay in May, and waiting until the title cleared, I finally have my '92 Perlie sitting behind my garage. Drove it up from Oceanside today, in 100 degree heat without air conditioning. (Refrigerant leaked out while the car sat for 15 months without being driven.) Actually, with all the windows down, there was plenty of breeze. Hot breeze, but breeze. But basically, the engine was smooth, the transmission shifts perfectly, the brakes are strong, and all the details that need to be fixed are cosmetic. And, as I have said before, NO RUST!
Sunroof motor makes noise when the switch is pressed, but there is no action from the roof. The car tracks perfectly, goes straight when I let loose of the wheel on a straight, un-crowned road, but the wheel is about 3 degrees off of center. I guess a trip to the alignment shop is in order. But everything will have to wait until next week, as I leave Wednesday for my annual trek to Monterey and Concorso Italiano and the Pebble Beach Concours. Anyway, now that I actually have the car, I feel I can be an active contributor to the forums.

Did you try giving the roof a slight nudge at the back of the sunroof after trying to open it? Mine does not open on its own, I have to nudge it, but after that it opens easily and closes normally.

Actually The SVX may qualify for these one day. Being a certified ItalDesign, drawn by the Master, Guigario, himself. Won't it be cool to see a nice Pearlie, or Liquid Silver amongst classic Ferraris!

Couple of welcome answers

I took Wannarace928's suggestion when I took the car to my insurance agent this afternoon (in 105 degree weather, no A/C yet) and found that given a little nudge, the sunroof did open. I think the fact that it has been sitting for more than a year has caused a lot of little niggly problems. When I start using it a few times a week, and carefully applying a little WD40 here and there, I think a lot of things will start working more happily. So thanks for the suggestion.
And, Crazyhorse, I think you may be right. I just hope I live long enough to see it. In '96, I met Fabrizio Guigario at Concorso Italiano, and he said the SVX was his favorite project, and he drove one himself. I wonder where that car is now.
Thanks,
P.

Silicone lube will help that roof run smoothly. Good luck with the car and enjoy it.

Hijacking the thread for a bit...

Silicone lube where?! I have the same problem with mine, my sunroof needs to be *convinced* to open...

Kind of like this...

Hehe. No its not that bad, I just smack it in the rear. Used to be able to just push it, but its gotten worse...
