problems with vacuum routing under the plenum.
Hi folks, I took off my intake plenum about 6 months ago, and am finally getting round to replacing everything underneath it (hoses, knock sensors). I'm having a bit of trouble with my final vacuum hoses though, I've done a search, and that has help with the others, but these are unclear.
its that damned black box, all my hoses snaped like glass when I took of the plenum, so I have no idea how it is supposed to be routed; it has two nipples, I don't know where those go, and I have one metal line the terminates close to the box, and a metal nipple that runs out of the plenum directly beneath the box. Anyone have a diagram I could consult or some advice? Thanks. Patrick

Patrick,
the big black box is part of the IRIS system. There should be a short piece of tubing coming out of it that connects to a check valve (which is about the size of your thumbnail) which is then connected to another piece of tubing that connects to the vacuum fitting on the intake manifold right above it. -Bill

SVXride, thanks for the tips, there are two outlets on the black box, I understand that one of the outlets is connected to a check valve. and then into the intake plenum at the nipple just below the black box, does the other connect to the metal tube that is connected to the gas lines? (on the left side of the picture, shown in my illustration in red)
I've got half of the puzzle figured out now, thanks for that. Patrick.

The other opening is connected by a piece of tubing to the diaphram can on the IRIS valve. From the looks of the picture, you've got the tubing from the diaphram can hooked up wrong.

Patrick,
I goofed. Yep, the other opening connects to the hard line that goes over to the other valve, which is then connected to the IRIS diaphram via a piece of tubing. You've got it right! -Bill
