I did the cam seals last year.

Cleaning the sensors under the alternator, despite their filth, had no effect.

Have you pulled codes? Have you checked the timing belt yet?

I looked at the belt. It was tight and seemed ok.

Check this ironic mess out.

They are constructing a sidewalk, so regardless of whther it runs, I can't get the X out of the driveway for two days.

I haven't pulled codes. I'm betting it will just throw me the code 16 from the shift kit.

Injector #3 inoperative?

We're checking ECU codes...not TCU codes.

Whoops.

I forgot they were different.

Eh I guess I'll get on that.

Went out and bought a battery because my mom wouldn't shut up about it and she was sooo confident that was the problem.
Didn't work.

$109 for 950 cca and a 4 year warranty.

Oh yeah the guy said my Optma was trash, so, that's why I bought the new acid one. Not to humor the woman.

The check engine light just blinks forever. I got to 135 before I got tired of watching it.

When I was fooling with the wires I noticed there is a set of dip switches with a red LED that blinks twice.
Dunno what it is for.

I need to know what it means when the check light just blinks continuously and whether or not you guys have a set of dip switches under your dash.

Uh Oh! Im getting that gas smell that you complained about earlier. Cant tell if its my car or just me that smells. It only smells when I have the vents completely off and the circulate button lit up. Hopefully it doesnt end up not starting like yours.

Before it didnt start it all did you car have a rough start. To be more specific, right when you turned the key did your car practically stall then the rpms shot up and everything was fine?

continuous blinking is when there are no stored codes

The smell of gas could be a small fuel leak, get it checked out. THe rough start could be a temp sensor, do a search and you will find a lot of info

The battery was toast. That's what I attribute the rough start to. A second or two after ignition the car ran perfectly aside from random hiccups while driving.

Drat. The car needs to be driven a short distance to store codes right?
If this is true...
Saturday morning I had to move my car a out of the way of the guys fixing the driveway. It only ran for about 30 seconds before I parked and shut it off. I wonder if something failed in that short time and the computer doesn't know.

Even if you try to start it now and there is a fault that would cause a code, it will register.

So if you have no codes showing then there is not a problem that will give a code.

So that means, have fun figuring it out...

I think I'll have more fun towing it to the dealer or somewhere and having them do their magic monitor thing or mechanical monkey-lookin.

Elementary question: Have you tried holding the gas pedal to the floor while cranking? I nearly drained the battery the first time mine didn't want to start, 'til I matted the gas. Fired-up immediately. No CEL, and I didn't check for codes. Only gave trouble around 32 degrees with a cold engine, and I haven't had a problem since replacing the ECU temp sensor.

As to the gas smell, check the hoses and connections around the fuel filter. I had a line seeping fuel under pressure even though the clamp seemed tight.

Good luck.
