sounds like the fuel pump is working. Now you need to disconnect the fuel line after the fuel filter and see if there is any pressure. Gas will come out of it if you are lucky so pul the line off the intake and grab a cup or something to allow it to spill into. Turn the ignition on but do not start it again and see if any gas comes out

ok then I have a bad feeling it is spark. Do you by chance have any extra crank/cam sensors? I think one of yorus has taken a dump and is not sending the spark at the correct time, or not sending spark at all for that matter. Crank sensor will give you no spark at all. Cam angle sensor will give you spark but not at the right time and will run EXTREMELY rough until it will finally stall. I have a feeling it is the crank sensor. Give it a try if you have an extra or know of someone you could borrow one from to trouble shoot with. If not, ask some board members if they have one. i know I do but I will not be able to get it in the mail until saturday

I don't have any sensors and I don't think anyone in town has any spares.

Line filter? Could be clogged.

thats not the case. I told him to remove the line after the filter to see if the filter was indeed clogged. If gas is comming out of that line, the filter is not clogged enough to keep it from starting

mmph, sorry, I didn't catch that.

You're definitely right about it being sensors then. Crank first, cam second I would think.

Nik,
Unplug the crank sensors and plug them back in then try it again, as it could be some corrosion built up at the connector....there are 2 of them right under the alternator....probably won't fix it...but it's free to try....

On our old Outback sport, when it's cam sensor started acting up, usually, unplugging it and plugging it back in got it going again for a while...but a new sensor fixed it for good.

I did a web search and ran across some Nasioc thread saying there was soldering/dangling issues in some Subaru cam and crank sensors.

I'll try reconnecting them.

Tom - I can wit until it snows, when I have to put the bike in the shed.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say these two crank angle sensors I pulled are not supposed to be caked with dirt.
I'm also gonna say they are not as old as the car. There is no way. They look new.

Finally I am going to say with my newfound understanding of these things the reason they were caked with dirt was because of the holes in my center timing belt cover, and analyzing the grain of this black substance, it's not just dirt, but dirt oil and puree'd plastic t belt cover.

I'm cleaning them up and we'll see if that does the trick.

Having them eye holes blocked would surely do the deed.
My Buick was like that, they don't have a cover on it.

Your front cam seals are probably gone if you didn't already do them.
