My guess is they are talking about 13 on the top diagram, 14 on the bottom.
If you pull a wheel you can readily inspect these links. There is a joint on both ends, check for play. You should be able to twist it, but not shake it. Another possability is that the bushings are shot. They are 9 top/ 10 bottom. Chike did a how to on replacing them with aftermarket.

Upon inspection the end link is a little bent near the top where it mounts to the strut. I had to take a straight edge to it to see the bend. Is this supposed to be like this or should the end link be straight as an arrow? As for midas saying there is play in it... thats BS.

It's supposed to be straight. I would remove the top nut and inspect the hole the link goes through. Mine was elongated and would cause free play. All we did was cut a chunk of washer to fill the gap. Been like that ever since

I inspected the other side and that also has a very slight bend in it near the top of the end link. both sides have no play, so i think midas was looking to make a buck off of me. Oh well.

I replaced mine with links from a late model Cougar (the small one.) The studs point the same direction but since I put them on almost a year ago they haven't been a problem. My cost was $16ea so figure less than $30ea retail.
Plus, they're shiny aluminum! Oooooooo If I recall correctly, the originals had a slight tweak on one end.

I need to have my links replaced. Thanks for this thread, Mike, because I was also looking to see which part was what the mechanic referred to as a "rear sway bar link".
Beav, Did you have to modify the Cougar links at all, or were they a perfect fit as is? That seems hard to believe. And now that another 3/4 year has passed, are they still holding up? |

Cool

Can you locker some pic's of the links that you used, and what year Cougar did you get them from? Oh. Nice collection of pic's in there. I really like the Blower pic.
