This is very cool stuff, but at the same time, it's not all that innovative. Apple already grabbed up the patents and that video was made by the media research team @ NYU.

See, the thing is, the screen can not sense how hard you press, just the points, so most normal touchscreen functions are not useful

Most standard touch screens cannot triangulate multiple points of input giving you 3D virtual navigation.

This one if it's the one on that site with all the crazy videos, is as versatile as a keyboard and mouse, if not moreso.

I'm leaning in this same direction. I was thinking AutoCad. That screen will revolutionize computer design and engineering.

It seems like Nintendo and almost any developer that has made a game or application for the DS covered what a touch screen can do for interacting with enviroments in real-time or at a certain annimated pace, but just not with multiple points. I wonder if a Tablet PC is powerful enough to be programmed to do this?

It's probably only as difficult as programming software to make use of multiple mouse pointers.
Aside from graphical hardware limitation I don't see why this wasn't done 10 years ago.

Reminds me of Minority Report, same concept in the the way the pointers interface.
