you've clearly made your choice about what car you want to own over any other, I have driven other cars that I would rather have but cant afford, but you could sell you SVX and buy about anything right now....

Chris,

I see why you have such a strong interest in that car. While it isn't visually appealing, it'll be a real 'sleeper' on the street and handle the twisty stuff like a champ. Good luck selling your car and picking that one up.

It'll need a bunch of body/paint work so I hope you can either do most of it yourself or have a close friend that does it! Otherwise, you could easily spend another 5-6K making that car look nice.

Good luck whatever you decide!

ya it really is going to come down to what I get for my car for Xmas, if I get the ECU I will probably keep it, but I dunno, with some quick black paint and maybe a body kit to help it out a little I think it is hard to pass up, not to mention how much of a sleeper it really is right now, but it does have some issues to work out... nothing I cant handle tho... i am just looking for honest opinions here, no bias ones, I think it would be a heck of a track car, and a beast on the road, it would be easy to build it to 350hp and the tranny could actually handle it, but the SVX is just something else to drive, its really a close call i think...

personally, I think if you were to put the money you would into that car making it run good and fix all the listed problems into your SVX, you would have one of the nicest SVXi on the network. if it is really going to cost 5-6k to replace everything, why not buy a WRX 5 speed, ECUtune 2v5, and start working on a turbo system for the SVX? a turbo SVX is something i would much rather have than that conversion

SVX really, that may be fast but even all pretty, ours would still look better. The car looks like the average Sube, but if that is what you want, go for it.

OMG I have Junked better CARS than that . Reminds me of the cars I see on the side of the road with the RED front fender ,Blue Hood and cracked wind Shield and a $2,000 or best offer sign on the wind shield. I leave a Gas can and a pack of matches on the hood.

Unbiased opinions are hard to come by here. After all who are you asking? My only slightly biased opinion is keep and fix/mod the SVX.

I'd have to ask you though what you want to be driving, as the 2 cars are so different in character.

I know... its so tough for me to decide, caus the impreza is to the point where what I tell the car to do it will do, no questions asked, and wanting to get into autocrossing and road racing more thru the SCCA I think that the Impreza would be pretty awsome, but the feel of the SVX and everything is just something else, it really is in a class of its own... however, I am hoping a shift kit will improve the tranny crap, I hate how it hestiates and second guesses everything, and its shift points really suck, that and parts are SO much more for the SVX and theres a limit to what you can do to it, but now seeing the larger sway bars and everything thats begining to become avalible for the car it is becoming more and more aparent that the SVX could be a real contender, I think I might start saving now to build a turbo set up, I think if I could drop weight and work with the suspension a little I could get it set up almost as good as an Impreza, however it still is so expensive to own and operate the car it comes out to really be a hair a piece. I brought the opinions here caus I was getting mixed responses from other Subi owners, really about half and half from everyone, its just the car is so far along and mine has soo far to go still.

Yeah you'll find lots of SVX bias here...

I have a lot of it too but a lot of plain ol Subaru bias as well!

I keep thinking about that Impreza - cause I've always loved plain jane looking sedans - maybe even a little rough - that could sucker people into thinking that's what they were, and then just blow their doors off.

The best advice of all is: What punches YOUR buttons?

Good luck either way!

Good point Lee! Modified opinion....keep the SVX for street driving and pick up the Impreza for track time. A serious track car isn't gonna be a great street/traveling car anyway.
