The Saga Continues
So Saturday I took my car down to the garage to have them look at it. First I had the transmission (stock 4EAT) flushed and (fluid) changed. Then I asked them to take a look at that strange sound I was having from the back left tire. Some of you may remember that I thought it sounded like the lining on the inside of the wheel well was hitting the back of the tire. Well I was wrong. Turns out the 3 bolts that hold the hub to the carrier are damaged. 2 where really badly mangled and the 3rd one was just barely hanging on. Basically it looks like the back left tire was about to fall off. The pin that 2 of the springs connect to for the drum part of the rear breaks was missing so the entire hub needs to be replaced. I have no idea how much that is going to cost but I am sure it is going to be alot. Also am going to need to replace all the various little parts in the drum part of the brakes. He said that the brake kit and the hub where both dealer only parts.
On the plus side. As long as the transmission takes care of me, I have all the major problems with the car fixed after this. Next up is going to be 4 new tires and after that a new windshield. THEN I can save up for the 5MT conversion, I am hoping to get the money for that before the end of the year. So my baby is still at the garage till at least Monday when they call the dealer and find out how much this is all going to cost. On the plus side I do not think it is going to cost me more than 80 dollars in labor. The mechanic working on my car is good. And with their tools I bet they could throw it back together in about 30 minutes. Man I can not wait to drive her some more. |

Used parts is a great idea. But with a car this uncommon how do you find used parts?
It does not matter. The dealer that I got the car from has it now. I explained to them in fine detail, directly to the mechanic what the problems are and what needs to get fixed. He seemed very willing to fix any problems that the car had. But it is too late, I have lost all trust in him. I will be very closely inspecting the work after I get it back. So he got it today (Tuesday) and if it takes them just as long, I think they will most likely have it till some time in the middle of next week. Thanks for reading guys. - Jason |
