um... HELP!!!! please

i've got big big problem/s and i'm looking for suggestions.. I just had the intake manifold off my 96 lsi to replace broken vacuum hoses and pcv valve, also did spark plugs, f/r diff fluid, and trans fluid... got it all back together and now every gear is flareing like crazy, hunting for gears on decel and cuts engine power at 5000prm or 80mph as the check engine light simultaneously comes on then immediately goes off... the needles on the tach and speedo jump around randomly.. at steady speed 40mph and steady throttle, the tach goes from 2500-4000 and everywhere in between, and the speedo from 40-60 and in between... feels like i have no "pull" in any gear..what the hell is going on.. the car ran beautifully before all this.. now in has developed a "twitch" and "jerk" any ideas... or am I just royally screwed.. help me, i wanna go to fontana NC this coming weekend

battery has been disconnected while work was done, so the ECU has been cleared and reset
all vacuum hoses are now good
all fluid levels are good
everything else is bone stock
no lights/ check engine or codes..just craziness going on

Significant Technical Input
Sounds like either a ground or speed sensor issue. I've been working on a number of other makes lately - Nissan, Volvo, etc. - and they have grounds at the intake manifold. Is the SVX similar?

i'm sure the How-To method is for pre-OBDII cars. you need a code scanner to connect to the OBDII port.

if it ran fine before, you took things apart, and now its not running right, guess what? YOU most likely did not connect something back up (or damaged something - hopefully not). maybe go over everything again very carefully looking for connectors or hoses that aren't connected.

OMG!!!!!!! BEAV!!!!!! YOU ARE T3H AUTOMOTIVE GENIUS!!!!... I went back to the garage.. checked the ground wire again.. and it had rattled loose enough for the wire to come out of contact with the manifold.. so i put a bit of locktite on it and torqued it down.. PROBLEMS SOLVED.. OMG!!!!!! I have no problem with saying I LOVE YOU MAN right now... you can now close this thread.. BEAV has spoken

BTW .. I still wanna meet you and see your SVX, since, well.. we are in the same city and all. I owe you a beverage or two of choice..and possibly some hotwings.. know a good place for those things???

<< member playing dumb

Just joking around for the pure essence of comic relief. I'll be out of town Fri-Sun at the Dragon.. other than that.. you should have my home number if you ever do decide a free trip to Hooters sounds good. take care until such a time arises, or if/when you get together with aredubjay to "work" on the SVXi, give me a ring

Congrats on the 3k... I'm Honored that it took place on my thread....
