Was just this past weekend, maybe last friday. Was heading south on 410 near Military. Appeared to be a middle-aged Hispanic gentleman driving. I honked as I passed, he caught up and we exchanged waves. I've seen another, maybe the same one, on Grissom road.

I noticed this topic was dead, and I think it needs reviving.

I agree that San Antonio is a good place to meet (not just because I'm cheap and lazy either.) but I think 200 bucks a night for a hotel might be a bit much.

futher, as a rule of thumb, I am a pretty boring guy, so as far as entertainment goes, what does one do at a "meet" outside of stand around and stare at each others cars? if beer is involved I can be your cruise director, outside of that... I'm blank as a fart, throw some ideas at me....

as far as meetups go the Shindigs i have attended (non SVX) there is almost no "on topic" conversation, mostly we just hang out and swap stories.

on another note it looks like SA is positivly crawling with SVXii

yeah, but they always ignore me....

I shake my fist as menacingly as I can, but they just speed away, I don't get it.

Im reviving this thread because it would be nice to meet all the fellow owners in this large state. I've talked to Skip (dengue) about it alot and hes got a nice local scenic route on the devils backbone, it sounds like it would be great to travel on in the SVX, theres plenty things to do here in S.A. and someone posted earlier that SVX's in front of the Alamo would be a good picture. Im trying to think of ways to notify local owners that arent on the forums so they can attend also. I'll take any ideas for places to go, things to see, stuff to do. S.A. is pretty much the central spot in TX, and im guessing it will be the most convenient for all the owners. Anyone who would like to help plan things out just PM me.

How is it that there are so many texas owners on this forum, and yet, we can't get this thread going with a defib?

I think we should think bigger for the san antonio meet, why should it be texas only? everybody should be invited.... just need a plan and a date.....

I prefer the winter or at least fall, cause it's not as hot, and which leads to less A/C, which leads to less gas burnt.

I'll be moving down there August 5-7, but I'll only be there for 3 weeks or so. So plan a meet in there somewhere.

p.s. I'm moving to the Boerne area...if anyone's heard of it.

sounds more like you are visiting Boerne than moving to Boerne.....

BUT, that is cool, that is northwest of San Antonio, which is pretty much where most of us seem to be.... (me and Odepaj anyhow) are you going to have internet access there in boerne?

Yeah, I'm moving down with my family, then going up to Milwaukee for school again.

Yes, I believe we have DSL. (we're in Cordillera Ranch...if you've seen any of the billboards)

A Texas Gathering

Howdy again to y'all! Surprised to see this thread up and running after all the months that have passed. Having lived in Texas most of my life, I've noticed that getting together a group for most any reason other than business is a hard sell. Distance, time and money are the big factors. Maybe you need to look at holding a regional gathering and invite everybody to attend. With a focus on a region you can concentrate on those living within the boundaries and pull together a core group. From what I've read here, maybe a Texas Hill Country meet would be the ticket, drawing from San Antonio/Austin areas. It appears to me that you might get 8-12 participants, and that is a start. You could arrange an interesting drive with a quaint lunch and nice dinner finish, maybe just a one-day/one-night meet with a second night option. The west side of Austin is a great place, around Lake Travis or even a "wine country" tour a few miles further west. I'd suggest October because of the summer heat, maybe even November, although you start getting into the holidays if you wait that long. Best wishes.
Preston
