ok Chike i will do that today. I always thought it could be the trottle wire or something. I wonder if this could explain why the car accelerates the way it does when the A/c is on or even when going uphill. Its worth a shot though. Ugh whenever i try to remove the cover the damn left screw wont come up...like its stuck in...grrrrrr

Ok i just went out on me street and pressed the pedal all the wya to the floor. As soon as i did this that beautiful green power light lit up and stayed on untill i let up on the gas. Beautiful i tell u. I guess when i tried this before my foot wasnt all the way down on the gas. Our cars sound like awesome beasts above 3,000 rpms dont they? I love it!

Tom,

Still try doing this mod. It'll improve the responsiveness of your car and remove some of the hesitation you experience when you press the gas pedal.

To get the clips off, feel under the engine cover for the bottom of the clips and push up on the little clip. The center part will pop up and it'll come right out.

Re: Wierd acceleration when started cold

Hello all. I am new to the board and have a question about what may be going wrong with my car.

When i start it cold it will not accelerate at all. Putting the "pedal to the metal" results in the car slowly accelerating as though I am barely depressing the pedal. It will eventually kick in and begin accelerating quickly after a few seconds. After driving for a while this problem pretty much dissappears.

As a side note that may be related: My E-Brake light on the dash comes on when i use the foot brake and will not turn off after that except occasionally while I am accelerating. The car does not drive like the E-break is engaged. When the light is not on engaging and disengaging the ebrake makes it turn on and off as normal.

any advice/help would be great.
Welcome to the board Ren, If this cold start problem happens every time it is cold, it could have a problem with the temp sensor. If it only happens at odd times I don't know.

The E brake lght could be the brake fluid switch sticking or signaling low fluid.

Harvey.

The power light is not supposed to blink when you start the vehicle, unless there is a problem.
This seems to me a potentially, very serious problem.

I have no idea what's wrong, but I'd get the trouble code translated, check out the MAF, and whatever else is asociated with measuring/tracking airflow, as it seems a sensor is malfunctioning.

No it doesnt blink at all i was wrong. The light comes on and goes away like normal. And the light comes on right when it should ( when i floor it) so everything is fine for now.
