ECU/5MT Experts Question
I confirmed my fear this morning my speedo driven gear is shot. Is there a way to bypass Vehicle Speed Sensor #2 using #1 to supply the signal to the speedo. I am not about to drop my tranny just for the speedometer. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome even worst case afermarket equipment.

You could always weld a ring to one of the halfshafts or the driveshaft and rig up a hall effect sensor, crank position sensor style.
I'm not sure how you'd translate that into something the ECU could read, but you sound like an enterprising sort. I'm not sure about the other speed sensor, If I remember correctly the computer uses differences between the speed sensor outputs to engage the transfer of torque. Or... you could always just fix the speedo gear. |
