As you guys knowi have only had my car for days now. The idlew is to low, about 500 RPM or lower. Tell me how to raise the idle and about what RPM should it be? Thanks.. Jim 92 svx touring

or ask someone else, but I'm pretty Sure its controlled by the ECU.

With the AC off and when you first start it is the idle still low? Are both the radiator fans turning even when the engine 's cold?

Idle speed

On my '92's tach the first mark above zero is 500 rpm (250 is not marked)and my normal idle is about one needle width above that, so i call 600 or 650 at that.

The idle is not adjustable insofar as turning a screw, or some such, but the ecu does learn over a few startups. After I replaced the TPS, it idled about 1100 all the time for a couple starts and then settled back to 600 or so. Smart chip!!

Mine dosen't idle slow, it just likes to stall when I am decelerating and push the clutch in... I think that I may try and replace the PCV and see if that fixes anything...

Agreed! Does yours engage/disengage fairly close to the floor? I'm still using the stock WRX clutch and like how smooth it engages. No slipping.

Mine engages at about the middle of the pedal travel(I've had Porter adjust it about 3 times because I didn't like where it was engaing... At first it was barely disengaging, then it was engaging all the way at the top... Now it's just right... But my peice of **** clutch sucks!!!! I don't think that the guy that made it for me did a bad job, I just think that I chose the wrong type of clutch to put in it... It is a 6 puck Kevlar disc with the stock WRX Pressure plate... It is smooth when I first start driving somewhere, but after about 5 or 6 gear changes It shudders like crazy!!! I mean very violently, to the point that I think I might strip out a gear or something!!!! It just dosen't slip, it GRABS!!! I want something that engages very smoothly but will still support the weight of the car and the added torque that the EG33 puts on the clutch... I am going with the Exedy Stage 2 Organic Street clutch... They say that it is suppose to be the best one out there for WRX's... And since my car is a "WVX" I think it should do just fine for me...

Have you tried the stock WRX clutch? Do you change the clutch yourself?

Let me know what needs to be done to remove the tranny. It locks into place and it seems that the only way to get it out would be to remove the steering rack first.

My idle is 550 RPMs (like the R&T guide says) w/o A/C and 750 w/ A/C.

Try fuel system cleaner, and check for leaks in your air hoses. Run the car hard while the fuel sysem cleaner is in there (and make sure your oil is within 3k miles of use (the more I read, the more I realize people are going longer than that...BAD BOYS AND GIRLS!)
