I have owned 2 SAABS. Both were purchased new.

The first was a 1967 Model 96, V-4 Monte Carlo with a stage II tune kit on the engine. This was a great car. It was my daily transportation plus I also rallyed it a bit and ice raced it a bit.

The second was a 1971 model 99 4-door sedan. This was a so- so car that was my daily transportation. This was not a great driver's car like the Monte Carlo was. It was comfortable and was very, very utilitarian. This was my first car with an electronic fuel injection system as opposed to a carburator. It was the Bosch K-Jetronic system, which was only their first or second commercial EFI system. Automotive EFI systems were quite rare in those days.

Both cars were terrific in snow and had great brakes.

I've always thought that SAAB and Subaru were 2 sides of the same coin. Both comanies produce "non-mainstream" cars that are technically superior to the mainstream cars. Both companies produce quirky cars that handle, go & stop well.
That was before GM bought SAAB. I hope that the SAAB engineers can use GM parts to keep making cars with individuality and are fun to drive.

I think the same uniqueness that atrracted me to purchasing the SVX is being used here. I hate having the run of the mill car that everyone else has. I love driving the SVX and getting that ocasional look from other drivers like, "I've seen that kinda of car before, but what is it?". The Saab has that look. I can't wait till my Dad allows me to get my hands on his Citroen SM Maserati and the Citroen DS 25. Now those are cars that get some bizarre looks(especially when the car comes to life and the hydraulic suspension makes the car rise!)
