Ever sleep in your SVX?

...I've done it before, but it wasn't so cold. After the Bulrlington meet in 2000(?) I went to a mountain-bike race and slept in my back seat...quite comfortably, but I had to open the sunroof for
fear of asphyxiation. The seat folds quite flat, and I stayed relatively warm, but I'm going to another race there....and it will be much colder this time. Do I need to crack a window, or can I sleep comfortably knowing I'll wake for the race, with all the windows up?!!!

TIA,
Tim

I would crack a window. Why risk it, even if you do the math?

During an event when I was faced with the choice of sleeping on the floor of a Gymnasium full of teenagers, or sleeping in my car, I opted to sleep in the car.

It was mid-November and quite chilly. I used a sleeping bag rated for 30 degrees and was quite comfortable. All the windows were up and I still woke up the next morning. I'm fairly certain you'll be safe.

But if you would have suffered brain damage from lack of Oxygen, who would have really noticed the change?

We know Todd would have made the other choice

re: oh yes, all the time

oh yes, i sleep with my car all the time....huh??? OH, you mean sleep in my car....uh...disregard my initial statement.

but seriously, a crack in the window and a well rated sleeping bag and you'll be fine. and of course it would all depend on the how cold it will drop at night and how you fare breathing in cold air. i know some that would catch a cold while others would probably develop pnemonia.

I have napped some in my SVX when traveling. No more than 4 hours though. It is somewhat comfortable. I believe that I did gap the window, just to be safe.

Don't the cars have ventilation anyway? Even if the windows are up?

I once pulled over to take a power nap in the Tank (83 LTD II) at night and woke up thinking I had fallen asleep while driving, I grabbed the wheel and stood on the brakes for all I had. Then I realized I was parked.

re: hmm..

ok...while we are on the topic of sleeping with, i mean in our cars, what is the preferred position?

1. front seat folded down
2. back seat
3. folded down back seat with the nice use of the trunk

i'm going to try sleeping in the trunk one of these days. i've done it in other cars and it can get quite comfortable.

sleeping in the svx

when I was doing 14 hour shifts in one job and a couple hours of programming afterwards for another job, I'd take lunch and dinner naps in the car all the time.
I think the most comfortable way is laying down the back seat and having you head in the trunk area to block the sunlight(for those daynappers). Having the trunk slightly ajar gets rid of the claustrophobic feeling and provides a cool breeze (in cali).

Now you just have to get over the embarassment of emerging from the trunk of the car
