Sad day for my SVX

I just finished winterizing her. Just need to cover her up and that's all she wrote until I get the time to do the timing belt, seals and pumps this winter. I guess the XT will have to do for excitement.

It 's going to a better place. Besides I think the BRAT could be exciting in the snow.

Nothing about the Brat is exciting... it is much more of an adventure.

I don't think you've ever had to make a emergency stop in a 77 BRAT with blown rear shocks, Talk about exciting.

Is it going in a garage? I think you should disconect and remove the battery, make sure the anti freeze won't...well..freeze, and then place Bounce dryer sheets throughout the car, and you should also give it a nice detailing before you cover it up for the winter.

I wish I had a real garage to store mine in through the winter but all I have is a car port, so I still take it out when ever it's not snowing or when there is no salt on the roads, I hate it when we get suprize storms the freaking state turns the road into a damn sand box if it starts to flurry and then later in the year *****es and wines that they have no more budget left for the real storms, pisses me off.

If your keeping it in an unheated garage, I was told it's a good idea to park it on four blocks of wood to insulate the tires from the cold concrete. It's supposed to prevent flat spots and brittleness at the contact area.

I go out and start mine at least once every two weeks or so and let it warm up. To prevent the flat spots Colin mentioned, I'll take it out of the garage, move it around a little and make sure I park on a different spot on the tires.

Other than that, I wash it well and give it a good overall cleaning. That's about it.

This winter I may have the SVX stored in somebody else's garage, so I think I might disconnect the battery and put it up on stands (so the tires don't contact the ground). Is there any reason I wouldn't want to do this?

Well if you believe what I read, its not good for the suspension to have dead weight hanging on it and its is not good for a unibody to be balanced on areas other than the suspension mounts. Supposedly the unibody joints can flex enough to make the lines uneven from sagging.

Take it with a grain of salt, I'm just repeating what I read.

I have a set of junk tires and rims that I put on my Mustangs for storage. The real rims and tires are stored horizontal with pieces of plywood in between.

Also, put some oiled steel wool up the exhaust tips to keep the mice from nesting in there.

One reason is that if something would happen that would require
a rapid removal of the car from said garage you will be SOL.
