Mods: Resonator and resistor removed
I'm thinking of doing these mods too.
What's it like? Tim |

The resistor removal will make the tranny shift firmer and basically forces the car into power mode. Some say it will help reduce heat but I don't think it has been proven. It will however cause the transmission to hunt gears if you put it in '3' and also causes the power light to come on on startup. I removed my resistor because it was beginning to fail anyway and costs $60 to replace. You could install the shift kit from www.smallcar.com that will give similar shifting but without the gear hunting and supposably they have added a resistor to the setup to prevent the power light from coming on (although the website does not list this). The resonator removal just adds a little growl to the engine, barely noticable under light acceleration but sounds great under heavy acceleration. Was worth the 15mins in my opinion.

Removing the resistor gives you "No Engine Braking" in 3rd as well. this is why mine is still connected.

I thought you guys were talking about the resistor crush;
are you? (ECM) Tim |

Nope, the resister behind the battery for the tranny.
The "resistor crush" in the ECU is a ferrite bead used as an electronic filter. I did this too and didn't notice much difference. Maybe this winter when it gets cold... Collins 92 pearlie |

There are good and bad in all professions, we just more media attention. In PA the amount is based on the speed and the zone. Anything over 31 over results in a mandatory hearing with PennDOT. Let's just step back from the donut jokes!!!!
