Make sure you don't use your flasher unit around any high-schools... you might get arrested

Seriously, what do you mean by "not work"? Do they come on and not blink, or do they just not do a thing?

Either way, it might be as simple as dirty contacts in the actual stalk that are preventing the switches from activating. Not pretty to fix, but pretty easy if you're relatively mechanically inclined.

flasher unit

thanks for getting back to me....they do not work at all....i believe they may have shorted out...no left ....no right....but strangely the 4 ways work....i was told by my mechanic that i needed a new unit but it was going to take a while for the japanese to get one..

If the four-ways work, then I'd say for definite it's the control stalk that's at-fault... not the actual flasher relay. Might just be dirty contacts.

I replace one on mine(broke it during my 5-speed swap), had a parts place get me a generic one, that thier books said would work.....it didn't has to be a Subaru SVX one, picked up a used one and they work fine now.
I believe my flashers still worked too, so they must be on a different unit.

My vote is control staulk. The contacts in the colum can go bad. Anyway, this must be a common problem because nobody in my state uses turn signals.
