Thanks for the unexpectedly high participation rate in this poll. It's very much appreciated as it gives us some good information. To be perfectly honest, I didn't expect such a sporadic distribution in answers. I guess it looks like some of us are lucky and other's aren't.

Anyway, I've been able to virtually eliminate most of my non-dash rattles with, and I know I'm beating a dead horse here, silicon spray. And Velcroing the locks helped a lot also. Now I've just got the dash and rear deck to worry about. Thanks Mr. Mummert for that tip about the piece above the radio. I think some of my problems are coming from that.

Unfortunately the results of this poll depend on people's opinion of the rattles. What someone else thinks is just a small rattle to them may annoy someone else to death.

I vote average. According to the poll no one says their car is a rattling pile of crap , so they can't be that picky. After I fixed my shifter rattle the car felt almost too quiet. I still get the occasional windshield crack and dash pop. Other than thoes non constant noises I get some minor noises in the back because I usually have my rear seats down for the stereo but then again I usually can,t hear them becouse of the stereo.

I only notice my dash cracking as well as the driver door lock rattle. I think the rattle would go away if the door panel was on properly. For some reason the rear top part of the panel doesn't stay snapped in.

I disagree. The choices I gave people were quite descriptive. For example, say hypothetically somebody has minor rattles in his/her car yet these rattles don't annoy this person, s/he is unlikely to vote that their car is solid as a rock.

If I were to have designed this poll numerically without description, where one could vote on a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being the best, 5 the worst and 3 average, then your opinion might hold true.

Right now my interior is rattling & gurggling too. I'm sitting at my desk at work. Maybe I shouldn't have had that 5-alarm chile last night.

thread revival

Came across this poll while doing a search and decided to toss-in my two cents' worth. My car's interior is very quiet with the exception of the moveable plastic part atop the steering column, which gets a pretty good buzz going on rough pavement. That, along with the expansion pops from the dash/windshield area that seems to plague everyone. I'm definitely not complaining.

My L had a few rattles here and there, most notibly from the rear parcel shelf, but i attribute all of this to the fact that I had taken the interior apart a few times to fix some issues.

Lots of good info lying around back there that just needs to be dusted-off. There is one thing about these old threads that bothers me, though: Many names I don't recognize. Where'd everybody go?

one of mine did too..
open up the door, take out all the stuff in there..
lift up the felt bottom lining
and youll see 2 screw heads.
On alot of cars Ive seen the plastic part of the console
broken where the screws go thru.
I went to the hardware store, got 2 little longer screws
and 2 large flat washers.
I replaced the self tapping screws that were in there with
the longer ones, and put a washer under each one
to cover the plastic area of the console better and help
secure it like it was suppose to be and it should help alot.
Also make sure the screws or bolts on the sides of the rear
are still in there and tightened
