I take it that they are compatable with all models of SVX, yes???

They look sooooooo much better than the stock side skerts! Hm?

Will you be able to export to Australia??

Where have I been?

Hey folks, I've been a little AWOL this past month, traveling to interview for jobs, Reno, retrieving my XT, etc..

Thanks to you guys who posted pics of the skirts. They do look really nice, and quite stock, as if they were fully intended to be there (as they were per the prototype)

Things are going to get crazy for me in the next few weeks getting ready to move, fixing up the house, planning what comes with when we move, etc.. so there may be some delay in getting these done. But, good news is that my new company is in the fiberglass business, so I can get the parts produced at work, instead of doing them myself, so once I get the molds made, the parts will come very quickly.

The production pieces will probably be one piece on each side, not two as the pictures show, depending on the results of measuring a few SVXes to see if they are consistent enough to make in 1 piece.

So.....hang in there, I'll get things moving as soon as my feet get back on the ground again. And thanks for the support along the way.

Steve

One piece = fractures!

I'm interested in these Steve, but I;m very concerned about CLTE (coefficient of linear thermal expansion) differences and failure of the skirts if molded in one piece. I'd much prefer to have a two-piece design.

On to the important things. Where are you moving? How's the new toy (XT)? I've been following your adventure on the XT site.

You worry too much

Seriously, my car won't see winter roads with them, it will be in a climate controlled garage (max low of about 50 deg). Do you think a one piece will be a problem under those conditions??

I love em and ironically, they make the once out-of-place/doesn't-follow-the-lines-of-the-original Stevebsy bumper into the bumper-that-compliments-the-side-skirts Stevebsy bumper.

In other words, the Stevebsy parts work well together.

The OEM side panels are in two pieces to allow them to expand and contract as the car goes through temperature extremes. The steel structure of the car expands and contracts at different rates than the OEM cladding. Think back to the vinyl siding you hung on your house last Deecmber. Do you remember how it had to be hung loosely with nails in slots? Do you remember all the beer you drank......oh, sorry for the off-tangent. This was to allow for expansion and contraction.

I'm not sure what the CLTE of the specific blend of resin/filler Steve's using is, but it is a concern for me. Problems may be seen with fasteners pulling out or pieces cracking.

Good memory about the siding, however it was quartersawn Northern Yellow Pine clapboard, not Vinyl. Face nailed into the studs. In fact I just finished sinking all the nailheads and filling the holes. Its ready for the paint topcoat.

Yes I did drink heavily, but how does that differ from any other morning???

The bedliner in my little Toyota pickup changes length by at least 1/4" from the summer to winter months. Its about the same length as a 1-piece side skirt would be on the SVX.

Don't forget about the fiberglass re-inforcement Mychailo. That will reduce it somewhat especially compared to an un-reinforced olefinic material (TPO SVX sideskirts or PE bedliners)
