Ok, If you guys are talking about what I think you are, the plastic plugs in the frame at all four wheels is nothing more than a factory plug that is not needed. The holes are actually there just as they are in every other car in the world. These holes are for the chains in the case of needing a tow. I have ripped out more plugs than I can count, but probably never put them back in. They serve no purpose other than to stop the frame coating from getting in the holes at the factory. I hope this was what you were talking about, because I finally feel like my driving a tow truck has increased my minimal knowledge of the world.

Interesting that you do not put them back and that you are sure that they have no purpose other than to stop the frame coating getting inside the frames.
Surely then in winter, in some situations, they must stop nasty salt laden water from gettng into the frames which we must therefore assume are not coated within. For that matter clean water will cause rusting.
I am now convinced regarding my previous speculation re their purpose and hope you will do the right thing by your customers in the future as it appears certain Subaru would not go to the lenghths they have for nothing.

I think that there are way to many other holes in the frame to worry about. There are good and bad sides to leaving them out. Keeping them in may keep water out, but no frame is sealed tight. Leaving them out will allow any water that was put in there for whatever reason, to escape in a timley manner and vent out along with it. I think this is going to have to be, much like the thread was labeled, a mystery. How about it guys? Who can tell me why we should or shouldn't keep them in. I'll go with the most sensable outcome.
