Are degrees Furenheit similar to "Furlongs per Furtneit".

As metrics go, degrees Furenheit is an Imperial measurement. It's a handy measurement, when taken in the right spirit[see above], but having imprecise units, is unable to distinguish clearly between hot, very hot and dangerous to touch. It is a rule of thumb, after all. Caveat emptor and draw your own conclusions on the state of health of the tranny. The management do not....yadda yadda Joe

Hey Joe...where ya goin' with that gun in your hand?
I was about to give you a big thumbs up....
when I continued reading about your big thumbs down. This story has more twists than a West Virginia backroad... STILL wishing you light at the end of the tunnel...(and not an oncoming train) Don

Cat Astrophic
Thanks Don
I must set my face like flint. At least the internals are all new. Something must bave broken, and possibly the simplest fix would be a valve but it's a wait and see job. The police have recovered the car stolen in the robbery. Would be good fortune if my tranny was still in the trunk. However, the car is impounded as part of a big criminal gang thing, and the garage owner has not been allowed near it to see what might be in it. Hopefully no major components destroyed in the tranny that is on the car. It was driving really, really well in the day and a half I had it to enjoy. Joe

The breakdown was a real sinking feeling all right, so I know how you must have felt Johhny. I have my car back!! The oil pump broke. Pat started it at 4 PM yesterday, worked into the night to finish. To say he is a little embarrassed with the breakdown would be major understatement. Cast metal circlips in the pump broke into bits, siezed the vanes, so no oil pressure, no movement. Luckily no other apparent damage. However, he has adjusted the brake band a little looser, and I may be detecting a slight flare going to second that was not there last week. If it persists I will have him retighten it a bit more. Right now, I don't trust that the car will stay going, and am typing this post with all my fingers crossed, and am unfamiliar with nose typing. Pls frgive iny tipoes. Joe
