Is there computer control or friction sensors for the wipers?

I don’t think my problem is a mechanical maladjustment. For the first few minutes (and not the fist few minutes as my previous post may have led you to believe) the wiper not only smacks the pillar but also the stopper where the wiper should come to rest when set in the summer mode. The wiper travel to too long both ways. Changing the mode from summer to winter doesn’t make any difference during the first few minutes. That's why I'm thinking maybe an electrical (computer or sensor) problem rather than a mechanical problem.

Re: Wiper traveling off glass

This is my old thread, and though I still have the wiper trying to extend over onto the A pillar, I think I have learned how to fix the snapping, click sound that occurs when then the wiper travels to that area.
I have recently noticed the sound even when the wiper does not reach the A pillar, leading me to think the problem was in the wiper itself and not secondary to hitting the pillar.
When examining the wiper, I noticed slack and slight noise when moving the little articulating pieces in the wiper insert support, insert holder, and the attachment to the arm. Using a hammer and anvil, I tightened the rivets of the insert support and pliers on the insert holder and wiper arm attachment.
So far, no further clicking, even when over onto the a pillar.
BTW, I still use the original wiper arms and insert supports and inserts.
Hope this can help others.

Re: Wiper traveling off glass

I have the same issue with hitting the pillar. Every once in a while things get out of whack (no pun intended) then they reset. Repositioning the arm doesn't help. Would love to learn a fix.

I think Harry also has this problem.

Re: Wiper traveling off glass

Yes, i think it will still touch the A pillar at times, but the real problem for me was that annoying snapping click sound.
By tightening up the insert support articulations, the clicking is gone.
