8 SVX's at Sydney Meet-up!!

Well...its finally happened!!!

8 SVX's turned up at St Ives this afternon for a bbq and get together hosted by Martin (1992 SVX).

There were

Blake -92 - burgandy
James - 92 charcoal grey
Niell + Howard - 4ws 1991
Martin - 92 white
Kienan - 92 charcoal grey
Chris - 95 - the last yellow one in Australia!
Keith - 92 burgandy
Gordon - 93 white

And a fellow in a 911 Porsche who has been looking for an SVX for some time now!

A great time had by all and there will be lots of pictures to put up as soon as possible.

Had a great time guys and the little run we had afterwards certainly grabbed the stares!!

James

Congratulations to all you Aussie SVXers.

I hope that you all enjoyed yourselves and had a great time.

I think the yellow SVX looked terrific (but don't let Randy know).

Congrats guys

Good work! You had as many SVXs as we did in Devon.

No doubt you had a rare old time just as we did.

James, almost bought a car very same as yours in colour. Found one in Japan, 4ws, all options, dark metallic grey. Got in touch with Paddles about it, but before we could organise someone to look it over, it was sold.

Next time I find one I might stick a small deposit on before negotiating..VRT office wanted between 1500 and 3000 Euro to import it anyway. Would have made it relatively expensive for a twelve year old car. Was nice though!

Now that would be a nice nice car!! Do you mind if I ask how much they wanted for it/what it sold for?

There are some pics that I have to upload but have not had a chance yet.

I spent a few hours polishing the front section of my car (will do it in stages) - no matter how hard I try, I cannot get that 'mirror glaze' that you see on other cars..and my paint is in very good condiiton.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

James, I probably shouldn't tell you this, I have no idea what you paid for yours. They wanted Y200,000, I make that Euro1400. That might be 2000Au$, not sure of your exchange rate.

Not sure why you can't get a glaze. Perhaps the topcoat, which is clear, has been UV damaged. If you are not having success, rethink before you do much more of the car. I expect I do not have to tell you not to polish in direct sunlight, it damages the surface. Would not hurt to go to a professional restorer for an opinion. Classic car clubs would have tame experts in the ranks. An American company called Meguiars have a fabulous range of surface cleaners and polishes, and the experts to apply it in most markets.

You may, probably do, need to do a deep cleanse before applying top shine. Don't go too far along the polish route until you find out.

Best of luck with it,

Joe

Spit & polish

Polish dries too quickly in sun, bonds to surface.

Don't worry about it, can be buffed off by machine. Polish only indoors, or on a very dull day.

You have those??

Joe

Indoors??? Yep, we have some of them...we can also go out them too!!

Overcast days are very short on supply at the moment - I will have to try and find a garage to do the rest of the polishing in

*kicks himself very very hard*
