just so you guys know, all the eclipse talon lasers were made at daimler star motors(hence why they are called DSM's), on the same assembly line and all(one eclipse next talon) so the only difference in them is the name and a few cosmetic cues outside and in.....
And if your looking at the altrac celic be warned....my friend just got his clutch replaced at 70k and it was TWENTY ONE HOURS OF LABOR......he decided to try it himself.....oh boy....anyways he had to get it towed and then pay for it. They are mechanic nightmares, much like the MR2's and have a tendancy to blow oil, the ct26 turbo's they are equipped with as well as the entire engine.
just fare warning

Yep. Eclipse= Talon. And if you're after an even older example, Eclipse=Talon=Laser.

I'd get a plymouth laser. Just as much potential as the eclipse only crappier looking

coming from experience(check the profiel) even though mine wasnt all wheel drive, they all are mechanically expensive to maintain......stay away from DSM's if your looking for a reliable daily driver. They have more hten their fair share of problems....including the syhcno eating trannys....

DSM=Drivetrain Soon Malfunctioning

dsm,, well trhe best year dsm to get is a 92-97 they have bullet proof 6 bolt engines with a nice 4 bold rear ends.. hands down 1st gen has the most power and price for its value. the after market for it is endless..

crank walk on hapens on the 2g 95 and up they are known to have it hapens in higher miles most people just use a 1g block "6bolt" with a 2 g head for the best power. over 25 psi all dsm 89-99 talon ,,laser eclipse use the same engine 4g63 power plant just some variants

most comon upgrades are the 16g turbos all g series turbos are mitsu turbos, 18g,16,g and the big 20g,,

16 g flow abought 550 cfm and around 350 hp depending on mods..

also 1st gen use 14b turbos to a 2g uses a crappy garet y-25 turbo.

there a couple of local guys here pushing in upwards of 500 hp range with stock internals u can boost around 27 psi without having to major engine work. and definatly run 11s without motor work on a 1g.

just want to educate some =>

if u want a fast car bye a dsm.. dpends on your taste of looks though and a car that theres a lot of them,, other wise maybe stick with the svx

They piss me off. It just isn't fair. You can spend 4000 on a FWD 4 banger to make it competitive...but a STOCK TSI will still kill you off the line. GRR.
