Re: etest failure?

Ontario emissions testing, aka smog tests. We have to have it done every two years when you renew your plates.

My car passed with flying colours two years ago, the guy could hardly believe that it was a 92. As long as the car is in good running order you should have no problems, just make sure there are no audible leaks in your exhaust. You fail automatically if there are.

Re: etest failure?

the only time my SVX ever failed the Emissions Test was when the MAF sensor died.. or was fried..never did find out which..but as I recall I found another one in the Parts yard for about 75 bucks.... a new one was about 180.00.. 4 years ago.....

They have them, but "e-test" is an Ontario term. It's called smog testing in a lot of places.

tom, being from nj, has heard of an emmissons test, but when you use the "regional jargon" instead of a "widely accepted" phrase it gets confusing to guess what someone is asking.

I don't live in Ontario, and I knew what he was talking about.

Re: etest failure?

I failed my Maryland test last month. Ran it about 100 miles at highway speeds, as suggested by my SUBARU techs, and got with 187 points of passing. I brought it to Heritage Subaru. They thought that since i did not drive it that much it had a lot of carbon build-up. They put some cleaner in it that had to sit overnight to dissolve/break up the carbon. It apparently worked because when I brought it back for its test I had the best readings since I replaced the entire exhaust sustem 5 years ago. I don't know what they used but it sure worked.
