I finally quit smoking...

Almost the whole year that I've had my SVX she has had a minor smoking problem. When stopped after driving I would get smoke from a fluid dripping on the exhaust .
Recently it started to get worse... The McD's drivetrough guy wanted to call the the fire department, and I would also trail smoke at times when driving "spiritedly".

With the car up on ramps, I could get underneath and see where the red stuff was dripping on the pipe, but I couldn't see the source. It was somewhere in the area of the steering shaft/joints.

I thought maybe it was the rack, but couldn't see where...
I thought one of the many hard line fittings at that end of the rack, but the ones that I could get a wrench to, seemed tight...
I thought it was one of the connections between hard and soft line for the tranny fluid on its way to the cooler, but the one I thought it was seemed tight...

Finally I was able to see the source through a maze of crap, it was another of those trans line connections. From below I could sorta see the connection, but there was no way to reach it... From above I couldn't even see it, but maybe if I grope around enough I could reach it...

After climbing on top of the engine, and reaching blindly I was able to find the clamp I needed to find. And I was able to tighten it at least 5 turns

My guess is when they installed the reman this line never got tightened ( I can half understand why). But now after a few days of burning off all of the residue my SVX is now Smoke Free

And you didn't even resort to putting those patches all over the car.
