Bearing Grease Mobil 1 Synthetic
Hey team,
Lot's of bearing talk recently... time for some more. The facts: right rear bearing is shot at 11000 miles. Got a replacement and picked up some Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease for the grease swap out. It specs a temp. range of -40 to 350 F. Is that good enough?? Anyone tried this stuff? Thanks, Biz

I used Mobil 1 synthetic grease when replacing both rear wheel bearings. 7K miles since and so far so good . . .

I've been using Mobil1 synthetic products almost exclusively in my
SVX and other vehicles for a number of years. Their ATF and engine oil are top notch and even noticed a difference years ago when I swapped out their gear lube in the manual transmission of my cars (have you ever experienced -30 deg. F with synthetic vs. conventional gear lube?) I have no direct experience with their bearing grease it has to be the 'miracle worker' that their other lubricants are, too. Just make sure you completely re-pack the grease in the bearing (don't leave any of the 'transit/storage' grease in the bearing Good Luck. -Mark |

I used Royal purple bearing grease and so far so good, I would absolutely reccomend a high quality grease over conventional. Darren

What's most important is that you make sure you remove all of the shipping grease from the bearing when it arrives from subaru.
