Gripe about Subarus

Why are the battery cables so short. I was about to get a optima battery today by selling my almost new interstate battery to my Dad and purchasing an Optima as a replacement the Interstate Wouldn't fit in my dads car and the Optima wouldn't fit in the SVX. Both reasons were because the battery cables are so short. Why doesn't Subaru put in battery cables that are 2 inches longer?
