I DIDN'T SEE A SWAY BAR! Everything you say is perfectly consistent with the noise we hear, but (embarrassingly) I need help finding the bloody thing. If you were able to get to it to attach that hose clamp to the bar, it MUST be accessable, right?? I don't want to get it on a rack and then not see it again.
My steering seems tight, but how is it adjusted? I'd like to see if that's part of the noise problem? On my old Mustang it was just a nut on top of the steering box - surely Subaru made it more complicated than that. |

You can see the bar with the car on ground. Turn the wheels all the way and then look. It is black and attaches with a oh 7" long link end to the strut. The link end is near vertical behind the axle adn the bar goes thru the sub frame in front of the axle down low on the sub frame.
To adjust the back lash in the box the sway bar msut come out. The lock nut on the steering box is accessable thru a hole in the sub frame. I made up a special tool to loosen it. |
