Record Milage?

From Alexandria VA to Syracuse NY is 435 miles. I made it in 6 hours and 15 minutes and Put 16.6 gallons in the tank

The weather was GARBAGE! I am now glad that NY salts the roads in NYS the roads are generally wet (not frozen) down to 16 degrees. In PA they freeze at 31.9

Anyway, Average speed just under 70,
Fuel Consumption is 26.2 Up and Down and round and round. I think flat and straight coulda seen 30 mpg.

BTW the Fuel light was on for about 40 miles, proving the 3 gallon theory

I got 31.4mpg on the way to AutoFest in 2001. I thought I broke that on the way to or from Lafayette, but I can't find it.

I got 32.4 MPG a couple of times on the way home from the 10th anniversary meet this summer. I was traveling with another rig and he only was traveling at 70 mph.

I did the same returning from the Lafayette gig, driving one stretch with 426 miles on the odo since a fill-up, the fuel light on for 60 miles, & me sweatin' bullets in the middle of nowhere in upstate NY. When I finally found fuel, the car took under 17 gallons. Next challenge - Drive 100 miles with the fuel light on.

Ron.

Penny's definitely set for altitude driving because the lower the sea level on the way to and from the 10th, the worse my gas mileage. But in Colorado, on the hwy, at a consistent speed at or above 70, I can routinely get 31+ mpg.
Since she was sitting for about six weeks in my garage, awaiting a hub and a new radiator, she's expressed her displeasure by sucking all my money through the tank. My first new tank, I got only 18 (the worst ever), the 2nd tank was 19, hopefully I'll get back up to my usual in-town mpg of 21-23 soon.
