4.44 will delay shifting gears.

when im on the gas a good way the trans will hesitate to shift into gear. the rpms will rise but no shift. the trans dosnt slip while riding up the gear but when it goes to shift it will delay. what may cause this. i was told the swap was done by tom so his input is greatly appriciated. looks like it may be 5 speed swap time
