Re: Manual swap, not starting
You're not supposed to be able to remove the key from any position other than off.

Re: Manual swap, not starting
I may run back over there and look because I can't recall a ground in from of the battery box. The battery is a brand new gold top so those terminals are find and they connection is good.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. I'll explain in more detail later if that's what he needs to do, but you've basically got it right there.

Make sure not to let the battery run down all the way while trying to figure this out. It would be really frustrating if you figure out, but you don't realize it because that's when the battery becomes the problem instead. Even if the car's not cranking, that starter solenoid uses up a decent bit of power itself, plus the rest of the car's electronics. I'll PM you my number so if you run into something that you need a more urgent answer on you can call me.

Re: Manual swap, not starting
Went and looked and that ground is there, if its bundled in with the negative cable.

Re: Manual swap, not starting
That sensor thats on the back of the drivers side cam cover, which I'm assuming is a cam position sensor or something? I noticed the wire broke in half on that. Would that prevent the motor from running?

Figures. I'll see if I can borrow an iron to solder it back together.

Re: Manual swap, not starting
Check the code and see if that's what it was throwing the code for.

Re: Manual swap, not starting
On my nissan this was done by turning a switch with a screw driver left then right and then count how many times a light flashes... Is it similar??

Re: Manual swap, not starting
Checking codes? "similar" I guess. You put a wire in a plug and watch the light flash. check attached doc.

Re: Manual swap, not starting
Fixing the cam sensor helped It will now start running and stay running... Once it gets through that phase of 20 something times of clicking. I took a 40 second video before I shut it off. It's idling at around 2000 rpms so I need to mess with the throttle cable nuts a bit.
Only lights on the dash when the car was running are the parking brake, low fuel, and I think air bag for some reason... If thats the one right next to low fuel. Last edited by STeeL25T; 02-26-2012 at 02:40 PM. |

Re: Manual swap, not starting
Is this the plug that is supposed to be routed back on itself? If so, it isnt haha. Here is a link to the video I took of it running. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v2...=VIDEO0023.mp4 |

Re: Manual swap, not starting
Try jumpering it to see if that helps, if it does, the starter thing should be an easy fix with a relay.
The high idle might just be a vacuum leak also if you find that the throttle cable's not the cause. Some hose not capped off or came loose or something. That is the correct plug. What I did was take the other end of that plug and solder the wires together, then plug it in to that end. Engine sounds damn good, you should be very proud. And I see you have a blue one too? Kick ass.
