car lurch after shutoff

Hey guys,
Ive been experiencing a weird problem lately. Occasionally after parking and turning the ignition off, my car jumps and then kinda rocks for a few seconds. It doesn't happen when I put it in park just when shutting it off. Plus I still have that hard thud on slow turns like a hard downshift.....its really odd, the tps is set right, any ideas/suggestions?

Re: car lurch after shutoff

try putting a jack with a piece of wood on it under the oil pan when you shut it off. just use enough pressure to stabilize the engine and see if it changes. sounds like you could have a bad mount.

woody that sounds like the transfer clutch is holding the trans all bound up. When you turn the key off the clutch releases, and the transmission line unwinds.
Try it with the FWD fuse inserted, see if it stops it happening.

Harvey.

Will do and update as soon as I can, if the transfer clutch is the problem then is my tranny on its way out? Or is that an easy fix

Harvey,

I put the FWD fuse in and the same problems are still present. What does this rule in/out?

Well that rules out the electrics as a problem.
Leaving a problem with a blockage in the C solenoid, turning the transfer valve on. A blockage in the regulator valve reducing the pilot pressure to turn the transfer valve on. The transfer valve stuck in the on position, or the clutch itself.
The rear of the box will have to come off to check which it is.

Harvey.
